This web cam view looks down Bassenthwaite Lake, in the UK’s Lake District.
The Lake is owned by the National Park Authority, is one of the largest in the Lake District at 4 miles long and 3/4 mile wide, but also one of the shallowest (70 ft). It is the most northerly of the lakes, and has no major settlements on its shores. Its is often full of sailing boats from Bassenthwaite Sailing Club.

As a Lancashire lass now living in Spain,it is wonderful to be able to look at this scene every day. There is nowhere on earth as breathtakingly beautiful as the Lake District. I long to see it again. Thankyou.

WOULDNT MIND RETIRING TO A PLACE WITH A SCENERY SUCH AS THIS. SURE ITS QUIET AND TRANQUIL. WOULDNT DO MUCH FISHING THOUGH. I WAS ONCE A LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER IN CHICAGO HARBOR, HARDLY EVER FISHED THERE EITHER. FISH JUST DOES NOT LIKE ME FOR SOME REASON. THIS IS BETTER SCENERY THAN LOOKING AT MOSTLY LARGE BUILDINGS ALL THE TIME IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO. BUT IM A KENTUCKY BOY AT HEART.
